The findings presented in this collection of papers are a part of larger research project "Sociological Aspects of Multiculturality and Regionalization and their Influence on the Development of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and the Republic of Serbia”, which was conducted in the period from 2001 to 2005, by the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Philosophy (University of Novi Sad, Serbia), with the financial support of the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Serbia. It is the first thorough research on the aforementioned issue in Vojvodina, and it was conducted both by professors/teaching assistants and by students of the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad.\ \ Grounded in the findings of the empirical research, these papers bring valuable observations and discussions on national affiliation and cultural identity, constitutional status of the northern province of the Republic of Serbia, ethnical and social distance measuring, as well as on refugees and family solidarity in Vojvodina. They also outlines certain characteristics of transition in Serbia, showing that exceptionally multicultural and generally heterogeneous transition societies potentially have an additional problem compared to the societies that do not have such composition. Explaining the characteristic attitudes of the respondents, the authors argue that the collected data are clearly pointing to the increase of traditionalism in Vojvodinian/Serbian society, requiring further examinations and new theoretical explanations.\ \ Žolt Lazar
